Empower Trek

Empower Trek takes our message to the hiking trails in the Adirondack Mountains. A life-impacting experience, Empower Trek is a charity challenge that connects female adults with our mission in a powerful and memorable way.

Designed for women who are interested in exploring the Adirondack Mountains while connecting with themselves and others in a meaningful way, Empower Treks provides the ideal blends of contemporary comforts residing at a modern lodge with embarking on an outdoor adventure of majestic beauty.

Trek Highlights:

  •  Discover and explore the largest park in the contiguous United States! At 6 million acres, the Adirondacks is almost the size of the state of Vermont.
  • Hike the enchanting forested paths, along creeks and waterfalls, up the rocky trails to mountain summits with breathtaking views.
  • Experience cozy accommodations at Cadence Lodge with home-cooked meals and modern amenities. Enjoy toasty outdoor camp fires and a calming ambiance!
  • Empower Camp magic - because creating a network of Empowered women is kind of our thing!
  • Give back to young women in our community by raising funds for the Empower Camp Scholarship fund as part of your involvement.

Empower Trek 2020 will be hosted in the Adirondack Mountains from September 18-20, 2020.

The cost per trekker is $500 and includes two nights lodging at Cadence Lodge, meals as outlined in the Meal section below, custom Empower Camp programming sessions (see Agenda below), a dry-fit long-sleeve Empower Trek shirt, a buff for each participant, park fees, and applicable local taxes.

Physical Preparedness:

Trekkers can expect to be on the trail for 8-10 hours and should be in the appropriate physical shape to take on this challenge. Trip members should be able to hike up to 13 miles including an elevation gain/loss of 3,000 feet.

Empower Trek gives back to Empower Camp:

Lodging

Trekkers will stay at cozy Cadence Lodge in Wilmington, NY. Minutes from downtown Lake Placid and many of the hiking trails, Cadence will be an ideal place to call "home" for our trek.

Trekkers will be paired up to share rooms. Roommate requests will be accommodated to the best of our ability.

All cooking, cleaning, set-up and clean-up is handled by Cadence and Empower staff allowing you to relax and enjoy the calming energy of the Adirondack Mountains.

The Hike

image56

Our hike will launch from the Adirondack Mountain Club LOJ. We will hike in groups of four and your group will become your trail family - you stick together for every trail challenge and triumph!

In 2019, Team Algonquin and Team Big Moose paved the way for future Empower Trekkers by hiking Phelps Mountain. The 32nd highest peak in New York, both teams summited the mountain at 4,160' and successfully conquered the "misery mile" which is a very challenging, steep mile to reach the summit.

The hike for our 2020 Trek will be announced in early 2020!

Transportation
